Keynote 1: QCRI: Taming the Data Swamps / Ongoing project at QCRI
Ahmed Dr Ahmed K. Elmagarmid is a computer scientist, academic, and executive. He is currently the Executive Director of Qatar Computing Research Institute in Doha, Qatar. Until 2010, he was a full Professor of Computer Science at Purdue University and the director of the Purdue Cyber Center. Dr. Elmagarmid served as Director of both the Indiana Center for Database Systems and the Cyber Center at Purdue University’s Discovery Park. Dr. Elmagarmid holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Ohio State University. Dr. Elmagarmid serves on the executive committees and boards of several companies in Qatar and plays a key role in setting policies related to many key national initiatives such areas as cyber security, large scale genome sequencing, 21st century healthcare systems and preserving Arab culture and heritage.

Keynote 2: Transforming Big Data into Services
Athman Dr. Athman Bouguettaya is Professor and Head of School of Computer Science and Information Technology at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder (USA) in 1992.  He was previously Science Leader in Service Computing at CSIRO ICT Centre, Canberra. Australia. Before that, he was a tenured faculty member and Program director in the Computer Science department at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (USA).  He is a founding member and past President of the Service Science Society, a non-profit organization that aims at forming a community of service scientists for the advancement of service science. He is or has been on the editorial boards of several journals including, the IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, ACM Transactions on Internet Technology, the International Journal on Next Generation Computing, VLDB Journal, and Distributed and Parallel Databases Journal.  He served as a guest editor of a number of special issues including the special issue of the ACM Transactions on Internet Technology on Semantic Web services.

Keynote 3: Social Media Conversations Using Cross Screen Technology

Dr. Jim Jansen has authored or co-authored 250 or so research publications, with articles appearing in a multi-disciplinary and extremely wide range of journals and conferences. Jim is a Principal Scientist in the social computing group of the Qatar Computing Research Institute, Hamad bin Khalifa University and a Full Professor with the College of Information Sciences and Technology, The Pennsylvania State University.  He is a graduate of West Point and has a PhD in computer science from Texas A&M University, along with master degrees from Texas A&M (computer science) and Troy State (international relations). He is editor-in-chief of the journal, Information Processing & Management (Elsevier), a member of the editorial boards of seven international journals, former editor-in-chief of the journal, Internet Research (Emerald), and he has served on the research committee for the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO).

 Keynote 4: Ongoing NIST researchs for next Internet generation
Abdella.jpg Abdella Battou is the Division Chief of the Advanced Network Technologies Division, within The Information Technology Lab at NIST. He also leads the Cloud Computing Program at NIST. Before joining NIST in 2012, Abdella served as the Executive Director of The Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX) GigaPop founded by The University Of Maryland, The George Washington University, The Georgetown University and The Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
From 2000 to 2009, he was Chief Technology Officer, and Vice President of Research and Development for Lambda OpticalSystems, where he was responsible for overseeing the company's system architectures, hardware design and software development teams.
Additionally, he served as senior research scientist for the Naval Research Laboratory's high speed networking group, Center for Computational Sciences from 1992 to 2000. Dr. Battou holds a PhD and MSEE in Electrical Engineering from the Catholic University of America.
